Laundry Time

Vinegar

I used to take boxing and kickboxing classes at my local Title Boxing Club (fantastic workout!).  My hand wraps and clothes would be soaking with sweat and stink.  Yep.  I’m admitting it.  I sweat AND I smell bad when I do.  Anyway, I would do laundry and still notice some smell on my wraps and workout clothes.  I did a little online search and found countless posts about using vinegar in the wash.  I also have allergies to most dyes in detergents and fabric softeners, so I was hesitant to try vinegar.  Truth is, it’s the best thing ever.  I fill the fabric softener slot with white vinegar and pour about 1/2 cup straight into the washer as the water starts running.  (I have a front loading washer, if that makes any difference to you.)  My clothes no longer stink and they do not smell like vinegar.  I’m not sure, but it may be helping my colors from fading too.  Vinegar + dryer balls seem to be the best equation to eliminate static from clothes (with the exception of anything that has polyester in it).  I use plain distilled white vinegar and buy it by the gallon jug now and pour it into the smaller bottle (pictured above) for ease of use.  There is special “cleaning” vinegar at the store usually too.  I haven’t tried that, since the regular stuff works great for me.
