Simple Peanut Butter Dog Treats

I don’t think there are many dogs that don’t LOVE peanut butter. My dog Charley goes crazy when she knows I am making anything with the nutty stuff.  Today I whipped up a batch of some pb treats to share.  In the past I just tossed things into the bowl and stirred, but for the sake of posting and so you can try out my recipe, I actually paid attention to the portions.

Ingredients:

  • 1 large egg
  • 1/3 cup plain oatmeal
  • 2/3 cup flour (you may need a bit more)
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 large heaping spoon of peanut butter. I use creamy style, but chunky works just as good.
  • Preheat oven for 375 degrees.

There are two ways to prepare the treats. The easy way is to just ball up the treats and put them on a cookie sheet to bake. Today I was feeling ambitious and flattened out the dough and used a bone shape cookie cutter. More flour was added to make the dough more stiff.  The key is to have the dough be just stiff enough to take the form that you want it to make. Baking time is 6-8 minutes.  The longer they bake the harder the cookie is. The best part about this recipe is you probably have all the ingredients in your cupboard.

Yep, that’s my hand. I wanted to have a photo of Charley begging and this was the best I could get.
