My mom gave me this plant a couple years ago. You usually see them in the store around St. Patty’s Day. It’s an Oxalis Triangularis, but I call it my Shamrock plant. I had it inside, as a houseplant for a few months and it got sickly looking. Then it died. There were no leaves or signs of life. I didn’t think anything of it, just another plant that died thanks to my black thumb, so I moved the pot out of view (I actually put it in a storage closet with our potting stuff). The next Spring I put the pot outside and just ignored it. Literally. It sat on the edge of our patio barren and un-watered (except for rain water). A few weeks later some shamrocks popped up and it had come back to life. I brought it inside when the temperature started to cool and the plant died again. I wish I took photos of it this Spring before I put it outside. The pot was just soil and now, about 3 weeks later, it’s blooming and beautiful. I wanted to post an article on this in case you ever purchase one or receive one as a gift. They do make nice houseplants (for a short time in my house), but look best for me outside in the Spring and Summer.
