Waffle Cake

Is it a “Cake Waffle” or a “Waffle Cake?”  Naming this dessert is the hardest part.  I love my waffle maker (see amazon link below for it).  I also love experimenting with desserts.  There are dozens of pins on Pinterest for this so I had to try it.  This will be made again and again, that is for sure.  I will save up my calories for the day so I can have it. 😉

The “cake waffle” is not as crispy as a usual waffle.  Ice cream is the perfect topping for it. You can also top it off with whipped cream, syrup, or even fruit.  Possibilities are endless.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cake mix
  • 1 1/3 cups Water
  • 1/2 cup Oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tbs Hershey Syrup (not shown) ***optional for the chocolate***

Mix all the ingredients together. Check with your waffle maker’s instruction manual for the amount of batter to use. For mine, it is 2/3 cup.  Pour the batter onto the hot waffle maker and close it up…let it do its thing.  Grease the waffle maker only if you usually have to when you use it.  Most new machines do not need it.

Gently peel the waffle out of the maker.  I always use a plastic fork.  The waffle will be soft and very moist.  A box of cake mix will make about 5-6 waffles.  I made 2 waffles and then baked 15 cupcakes.
