Here’s Your Sign

Peacock Crossing Sign

As you may have noticed, I do crafts with Peacock feathers.  These feathers are from a pair of male Peacocks that my mom has on her farm.  The crazy birds do not stay in the yard, they like to roam across the road from time to time.  As a joke, but also because it is kinda needed, I made my mom a Peacock Crossing sign for Mother’s Day.

I started with an old crop sign that has been in her barn since the 90s. We don’t even know where it came from…so my mom didn’t even notice it missing. I washed it up with some soap and water. Then poured Rubbing Alcohol on it and wiped it off.  Rubbing Alcohol usually helps paint stick.

I used spray paint that said it was specifically for plastic. Luckily it came in the bright yellow.  After two layers on each side (and 4 days later) I started on the drawings and XING portion.  For this I used spray paint that I sprayed into a bowl then used a brush to apply.  I free-hand painted the whole thing. Hence why it isn’t “perfect.”  This was repeated on the other side as well. Two days later I sprayed a light coat of Polyurethane on each side (hopefully this helps it keep longer).  This was a fun craft and my mom loved it!
