Detox Bath Mix

I am a believer in Eucalyptus Oil and its health benefits. I have made shower cubes to help clear my sinuses, but sometimes I need a hot bath to soothe muscles.  If you do an online search for the term “detox bath,” you will have endless results to choose from. Most have the same basic ingredients: Epsom Salt and Baking Soda.  Epsom Salt is known for drawing toxins out of our body and relaxing muscles and joints.  Whenever I feel sore from exercising or working out in the yard, a nice hot bath with Epsom Salts always helps me feel better. Here is a quick “recipe” on the jars I make and use. They make great gifts too!

6oz Jelly Canning Jar “recipe”: Mix 3 tablespoons of Baking Soda with 3 tablespoons of Epsom Salt.  Add 30 drops of Eucalyptus Oil and 20 drops of Lavender Oil. Stir.  Add 3 more tablespoons of Epsom Salt and put 10-15 more drops of Eucalyptus in the mixture. Stir completely.  I leave empty room at the top because it is hard to stir the mixture when it is full.

Larger Jar “recipe”: Mix 6 tablespoons of Baking Soda with 3 tablespoons of Epsom Salt. Add 15-20 drops of Eucalyptus Oil and Lavender Oil. (I also like to add about 10 drops of Spearmint Oil).  Add 4 more tablespoons of Epsom Salt and stir the mixture. Add 15-20 drops of the oils and stir it. Add more Epsom Salt to the jar until it is almost full and stir the mixture. Add 5-10 drops of the oils and stir again. Shaking the jar (with the lid on of course!) is also helpful in mixing up the ingredients.

When you are ready to use it, add 3 tablespoons of the mixture to hot (or as hot as you can handle) water and 1 cup of Epsom Salts.  Soak and relax for at least 20 minutes. The longer the better. Be careful stepping out of the bath, as the mixture may make the tub slippery.  Eucalyptus Oil give me relief for sinus congestion and colds. Lavender is very relaxing.  On my gift jars I like to put a note on how to use the mixture and what oils are used (in case of allergies).   I found some awesome scoops on Amazon.com to give away with them, and they are reasonably priced (see link below).
