Fortune Cookie Fortunes and Me

I always try to save my fortune from the cookie in my Chinese take-out.  The result is that they are everywhere in the house. I posted a few on the fridge under a magnet, some were cluttering up the junk drawer, and I also found three hiding in the bread box.

Then I had an “AHA!” moment and purchased a shadow box, piece of glittered red scrapbook paper (laminate type) and black glitter glue.

I also gathered up all the fortunes I could readily find. Of course it didn’t seem as many as I should have.  They are probably hiding in another spot somewhere in the kitchen that I have forgotten about.

I researched Chinese symbols and found the “Double Happiness” symbol to be the most appropriate for this framed art. Using a dry-erase marker (so it was easy to erase any mistakes), I carefully drew the symbol onto my scrapbook paper.

The black glitter glue was very easy to use. It took about 8 hours to fully dry. Once it was dry to touch I put the shadow box back together with the fortunes on the bottom.

More fortunes will be added as I collect them. I did contemplate putting a hole or slot into the frame somehow to make it easier to add fortunes, but I think that will make it look ugly.  I am loving this framed art and it is practical!
