Timmy Flynn’s Red Pepper Deli & Grill is my favorite local sandwich shop. It used to be a Hungry Hobo, but things changed in 2011. I don’t know all the details, but what I do know is that it is still a fantastic sandwich shop with fresh-cut meat and cheeses. I don’t get to go there much. Every time I do go, the owner is always greeting customers and working behind the counter. It is a great atmosphere and the rest of the staff is also friendly.
My usual order is a #11. It is similar to the cold cut combo at Subway, but not too similar. Subway uses pre-cut meats for their menu. At Timmy Flynn’s, everything is made to order.
Last week I ordered the #7, which is fresh turkey. This is another of my favorites there. They also have awesome baked potatoes and the best nachos.
Another great part about going to Timmy Flynn’s is there are usually coupons on Valpak.com. If you are ever in Iowa City and trying to think of a good place for lunch or even dinner, check it out. They are off Riverside Dr, right across from the Dairy Queen. Parking is hectic sometimes, but that is literally the only negative about this place.
