Dog Toy Box

A place for all of Charley’s toys.

My dog leaves her toys all over the house.  When I pick them up, I just put them in a pile for her to dig through  later.  I have been wanting to get a toy box or basket for them, but never got around to it. Today I thought “outside the box” and converted a cardboard shoe box into a dog toy box.  All materials were on hand already, which sometimes makes me feel like a hoarder (though I am finally putting everything to good use!).

Materials used were: duct tape, cardboard shoe box, fabric (that I was going to make a purse out of, but never did), and a hot glue gun.

I started by lining the inside of the box with duct tape. However, if I were to do this again, I would wait until the end because I needed to tape again for the fabric.
I laid out the fabric and cut it out like I would for gift wrapping.

I discovered that the sides were too much to fold so I cut out the corners. This helped put the piece together. In order for the fabric to lay the best, I hot glued the large sides first, then did the small sides.
Once all sides were glued, I placed a strip of duct tape over them to keep the edges neat and more durable.
It took about 30 minutes to complete the craft and only 5 minutes for Charley to drag her toys out all over the house again. I think my next project is to teach her to put them away!
