Grilled Garlic Pork Chops

Last night I made delicious garlic seasoned pork chops. Well, technically I did the seasoning/marinate and my boyfriend did the grilling. While he was grilling them, I made pasta salad and supervised. This recipe could be used for pan frying or baking, but I haven’t tried it that way yet as I am blessed to have an awesome grill-master in the house.

Ingredients:

  • Center Cut Pork Chops (3-4)
  • 1 tablespoon Minced Garlic
  • 2 tablespoons EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil)
  • 2 teaspoons Lawry’s Garlic Pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon Lawry’s Seasoning Salt

Mix the seasonings together, add the garlic and EVOO.  Rub/splash/dip/however you want to apply this marinade onto the meat. I usually cover it and let it sit in the fridge for about 10 minutes or so.

Now, I have to admit something…I have no idea how to use a grill. So I asked how they are cooked and I was told that the key is “indirect heat.”  This makes total sense because if it is cooked too fast and too hot that would dry them out.  The grill-master cooked them for 5 minutes on each side on low (with the other side of the grill being on high).  He flipped them onto the side with high heat for less than a minute, just to get the cool grill marks on them.  They should be at least 145 degrees (the old food-health standard was 165 degrees).
