Vanilla Sugar

I ordered some Premium Bourbon-Madagascar Vanilla Beans from Amazon

for another project (Homemade Vanilla Extract-coming soon!) and ended up having a leftover Vanilla Bean.  After some online researching I decided on trying out Vanilla Sugar. The process is easy and the end result is delicious.

Slice the vanilla bean and scrape all the seeds out. They can be used in any baking. I put mine in some vanilla extract that is waiting to cure.
Cut the empty Vanilla Bean pod in two and place it at the bottom of an empty sugar jar.
Fill the container with sugar and wait at least a week to let the vanilla “soak” into the crystals.

This morning I tried a couple spoons of the Vanilla Sugar in my Co-Co Wheats and it was very tasty.  I can’t wait to try it with some cookie recipes or even with a bowl of Corn Flakes.

I purchase my vanilla beans from (JR Mushrooms and Specialties).  I highly recommend them.
